On 19 May 2006, the MPFA invited interested parties to submit written comments on the "Consultation Paper on Proposals to Improve the Content of Annual Benefit Statements". The consultation paper contains various proposals that aim to improve the content of the annual benefit statement that is provided to members of mandatory provident fund ("MPF") schemes.
The MPFA received in total 24 written submissions from various parties including approved MPF trustees, professional bodies and individuals. The “Consultation Conclusions on the Consultation Paper to Improve the Content of Annual Benefit Statements” analyzes and summarizes comments and opinions received in the submissions and sets out the responses and the way forward from the MPFA.
This paper contains four appendices:
1. Appendix A is a list of respondents who responded and commented on the consultation paper;
2. Appendix B is a long version of a sample Annual Benefit Statement;
3. Appendix C is a short or abridged version of a sample Annual Benefit Statement; and
4. Appendix D is a list of standardized terms used in the Annual Benefit Statement.
